JWoods asked:
I am about to finish my undergraduate degree in business, but I’ve decided I want to be a mental health/relationship counselor. I want to finish out my degree and move on from there, but what do I have to do in order to be on my way to becoming a full fledged counselor? What degrees do they have, and what liscenses do I need?

chelsea_lulu21 asked:
I know some people that work in the mental health field do have a history of mental illness, some that I have met are currently on antidepressants, but because they have their illness under control they are perfectly fine. Is this common, and if you were looking to get into a career in mental health would having a personal history of mental illness benefit you because maybe you could relate to your clients/patients better?

PJ, Erie PA asked:
Most people who have a diagnosis of a mental health brain disorder are not criminals unlike TV or the Movies show.
I feel that it is the last stigma.
You can be Gay, have AIDS/HIV now; even at one time having cancer was not discussed.. But dare admit that you on medication for depression or such.
I have lost friendships because of my disclosure of having depression.
The support and understanding of family and friends helps a lot. As we can not just snap out of it without help. It is a disease, a chemical imbalance and a life that has just to many bad events happen to them .
I hope with Owen Wilson’s disclosure that it will help a little more to acceptance and understanding.

Katie K asked:
I am a 22 year old college grad with a BS in psychology and a concentration in criminal justice. I really want to pursue a career in counseling, but I know I have to go to graduate school first. In the mean time, I’d like to get some experience in the mental health, or even just health care field. What are some reliable options for getting my foot in the door of the health care field?

Just believe~`~ asked:
What is the spiritual aspect of someones life. Everyone says being spiritually healthy is just as important as other aspects of health.
Even if people don’t have a religion(or if they do;either way I’m saying) how can they be spiritually healthy and happy?
You know I really dislike when people right off the back don’t even answer my question and say “recieve jesus”
for your FYI I am a born again christian now but you guys saying stuff like that seriously gets me annoyed out of my mind!

Red Winged Bandit asked: Serious answers in regards to mental, physical and spiritual health would be appreciated.
And feel free to take up some space. I’ll be reading all of these answers.
Also source of info/credentials would be great.
by abuse I mean long-term, unnecessary use. If I cut my leg off I don’t need to ask a doctor if it hurts. So no, that’s not what I meant.
