Janet asked:

Plant a tree… Take care of your garden… Learn about herbs… Drink natural tea. Feel you’re part of the Perfect Nature.

Light a green candle and pray for native-indians. Picture yourself in a forest and picture a native-indian coming to bless you.

Your health will be blessed.

Peace!
OK native-amarican, then.
native-american
Skip the ritual if you’re not comfortable with it.
Coffe Pot12, if your husband is half-native-american, he should know his people holds secrets for the cure.

Why does it seem as though many professionals in the mental health field are very screwed up themselves?

Well la-di-da asked:

I’ve worked in the mental health field for a few years now. I’ve worked among many therapists, and have talked to countless others on the phone. Half of these people (actually probably more than half) are crazier than the patients! The ones I’m talking about have been very rude, verbally abusive, arrogant, condescending, catty, and just over all very negative. Many of these people have their own practices and see patients and I would cringe at the thought of having them as a therapist. If only patients knew….
Why do you think this is the case many times? Why do people who apparently need so much mental help themselves go into a field where they are supposed to have a healthy edge to help others?
Well here is my assessment:

I agree that people go into the field thinking they will learn something about themselves, “better” themselves, and have this gung-ho attitude about helping others - “I’ll be an expert because I’ve been through this” type of mentality. But this is where they get stuck - just merely learning about counseling is not enough to help heal. It is the relationship between patient and counselor that helps the healing process, and you can’t magically get the same effect just from reading the books. SO …these people end up disappointed and still “unfixed”. Just my 2 cents.

Do you think the US military should eliminate the physical fitness double standard for women?

scotty7617 asked:

One of the requirements for being in the US military is that every once in a while, you have to pass a physical fitness test. The standards on these tests are lower for women than they are for men.
In the army a male soldier, age 17-21, has two minutes to do a minimum of 42 pushups. A female age 17-21 must do 19. A male soldier age 17-21 must be able to run two miles in 15:54. A female, age 17-21 must do it in 18:54. Sit-ups are equal.
I knew strong female soldiers who could pass the test by the male standards, but there were also many who could only pass because of the double standard. It should all be equal.
Before you ask “How is it relevant?”, I’ll say it’s VERY relevant. Anyone eho has served in the military can tell you, that regardless of your job, you do a lot of heavy lifting.
Also, these double standards do not exist in combat, and if you are not strong enough to do 25 pushups, you are NOT going to be strong enough to pick up a 230 lb soldier and carry them to safety.
Actually, minga, yes I do think the age double standard should be eliminated as well.

Heliocentric asked:

I don’t have insurance, but I really need to see a doctor. I am going through a serious mental health crisis and I am afraid I may try to kill myself if I don’t get professional help soon. I’ve tried to find help on samhsa.gov and my state’s health department’s website, but neither is clear about eligibility or services. Is there anyone out there who has already navigated the system and can explain it in plain English? Are there any resources out there for me?

I’m going to hell because I’m a dork, aren’t I? If I make an offering of a pair of leather motorcycle chaps to the Fonz, will that get me enough cool points for at least purgatory despite inherent dorkiness? I don’t speak Klingon! (Do know some conversational Jaffa, though.)

papa asked:

We have to do a project for health where we have to put together a shoe box with 10 items in it and decorate it. The items inside need to consist of:
2 items representing physical health.
2 items representing emotional health.
2 items representing social health.
2 items representing mental health.
2 items representing spiritual health.

Does anyone have any ideas on what i could put inside of this box?

Much appreciated!
