The Mind - Body - Spirit Connection in the Medicine of Light

Bernard J Fleury asked:

The work being done on light in theology as reflected in the Bible and Judaeo Christian tradition, philosophy, physics, medicine and near-death experiences is directing us to a revolutionary breakthrough in terms of a new model – a new approach to reality. Progress in all of these areas of human curiosity is being driven by brilliant and original insights into the very nature of the foundational stuff of the universe – light – an elusive, pervasive, something or someone!

This new approach to reality sees the Mind –Body – Spirit connection as an essential insight if we are to even begin to comprehend the inner and outer worlds that together reveal to us what exists – what is truly real.

In my book Called into Life by the Light I have utilized the Mind – Body – Spirit connection as the basic framework for presenting the human experience of light in the Bible and Judaeo Christian tradition, philosophy, physics, medicine, and near-death experiences. Light is the ultimate stuff of all that exists as both a something and a someone, calling each of us into life.

If light is indeed the foundational, basic stuff of all that exists then it is easy to understand why light based medical technologies and medications are the most effective and the non-invasive form of medicine practiced in the early twenty-first century. They are utilizing the basic constituent element of the universe – light – in one or another of its many forms.

Long before I was involved in a serious study of the phenomenon of light, I recognized in myself an intense sensitivity to light in all its forms. From my recollection of the early years of my life, my sleep patterns have always been highly affected by light. Even if I had been sleeping for eight hours or so before the time of my rising, if the rising time was prior to natural daylight I found it very difficult to get out of bed and still do. As I am aging into my mid-seventies my body clock winds down sooner at the end of natural daylight but awakens as soon as natural daylight comes streaming into my bedroom window.

I have always wanted to be in natural daylight as much as possible during the day either outdoors, or if indoors, working by a window with abundant natural light. My career as a public school teacher, principal, and college professor found me maximizing natural light in my classrooms and requesting office space with abundant windows as sources of natural light. I seldom turned on the artificial lights, which were either incandescent or limited spectrum florescent, until forced to do so by natural darkness when my work schedule kept me there past the end of daylight. I have always felt good in the light. It has been a lifelong medicine for me.

In 1993, due to a persistent “lazy eye” condition in my right eye and the beginning deterioration in acuity of vision in my left eye, I sought a new phototherapy treatment recommended by my Optometrist, Dr. Earl Lizotte, who had been working in the field of Syntonic Optometry since the late 1980’s. It was during this treatment that I was told of the work of Dr. Jacob Liberman and made aware of his book, Light Medicine of the Future. Dr. Lizotte was also exploring the work of Arthur Zajonc on the history of light as described in Zajonc’s 1993 book, Catching the Light. Zajonc is a Professor of Physics at Amherst College and a specialist in Quantum Physics.

These two works filled in the missing pieces of my own study of light that had formally begun with my initial work on the writing of Pierre Teilhard deChardin in the mid 1970’s.

Teilhard de Chardin was a Jesuit priest, scientist, and philosopher, who along with Zajonc and other interdisciplinary synthesizers see science, theology, mysticism, religion, and ecology as fundamentally interrelated. Each of these areas reveals a different aspect of reality. Collectively they give us the most complete picture of reality we can attain.

With the addition of near-death studies, the scope of Called into Life by the Light came to completion in 2006. My research on Light as a Someone and a something continues.

The Mind–Body–Spirit connection in the Medicine of Light originates and is confirmed in the work of synthesizers such as Arthur Zajonc and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. It is my basic approach to reality in this initial article on the Medicine of Light, and in a series of articles on specific applications of light based technologies, therapies, and medications.

Im not new agey, or whatever the crystals ,rainbows etc stereotype is….infact i intensly dislike cliquey jargon as i think it makes something that is actually quite normal out to be full of nutcases and charlatans….which unfortunately it is too.
ok thats my disclaimer out the way!
Im bi-polar and have been on various meds but always found i felt stupid or numb.
Also i really didnt think i was ‘crazy’ or sick forever…just that something wasnt right…the reasons werent being addressed, and i knew meds may help with the symptoms but not the reasons in the end.
compleately dispite myself i started to look at other causes of bipolar….and ended up wading through so much crap, but occationally something felt right or was written in a way that i recognized.
Ive found that learning to foucs and close my head chakra (wikipedia is a good place to start) has balanced me more than meds…learning to shut down has grounded me.

has anyone else found anything similar?
thanks
im far from dismissing med if they are really working for you, and i recognise that there are cases where it realy is physial…but i found this works for me.

Mind Body & Soul - the Key to Overall Wellness & Health

Sacha Tarkovsky asked:

n many ancient systems of medicine and healing, (such as in China) treatment has been made with the view that mind, body and soul are linked together as a whole.

You can’t just treat one area; there not separate there intertwined:

Prevention and treatment should be based upon the whole, Mind, body and soul and this view is now becoming acknowledged world wide.

If you accept this concept you will be healthier avoid illness and be happier.

When one part of the whole is stimulated, it also affects parts of the whole.

Overall health and wellbeing combines physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.

Alternative medicine is holistic by nature treats the whole rather than just one area and it makes total sense.

An overall approach to wellness

Mind-body and soul healing focuses on the interactions among the brain, mind, body and behavior, and the ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioral factors affect us as a whole

It encourages an approach that enhances each person’s self-knowledge and self-care, and it emphasizes techniques that are based on this approach.

Mind-body and soul medicine typically focuses on intervention strategies that are thought to promote health:

These include such areas as:

Relaxation, imagery, meditation, tai chi yoga, Rekki, htpnosis biofeedback, yoga, qi gong, cognitive-behavioral therapies, autogenic training, spirituality, proper nutrition and diet.

Illness is viewed as an opportunity for personal growth, transformation and a move to a happier healthier being.

Health care acts as an important part of this transformation.

The History Of Complementary Medicine

In 2002, relaxation techniques, imagery, biofeedback and hypnosis, were used by more than 34% percent of the adult population in the USA.

The concept that the mind is important in the treatment of illness is integral to the healing approaches of traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic treatments dating back thousands of years.

In Greece as long ago as 400 BC Hippocrates recognized the moral and spiritual aspects of healing.

This is probably one of the first statements on what today we regard as alternative medicine.

By the 16th century a different direction was being taken that stressed the opposite:

The separation of mind body and soul.

During the periods of Renaissance and Enlightenment, advances in science saw an emphasis on science being the answer to everything.

Technological advances in medicine; the discovery of bacteria, antibiotics changed the notion of belief being able to influence health.

A change

In the 1920s, Walter Cannon’s work revealed the relationship between stress and neuroendocrine responses in animals.

Using the phrase “fight or flight”

During World War II, the importance of belief re-entered of health care.

In the battle on the beaches of Anzio, morphine for wounded soldiers was in short supply.

Henry Beecher, M.D., discovered that much of the pain could simply be alleviated by saline injections as a substitute.

He used the term placebo effect.

His subsequent research showed that up to 35% of a therapeutic response to all medical treatment could be the result of belief.

The will to live is often quoted and this comes from the mind not just the body.

Our mind has a huge influence on our bodies and this view has gained increasingly in popularity in recent years.

The Rise In Complimentary Medicine

Since the 1960s, and the rise of the hippy generation and their interest in all things alternative, mind-body interactions in over all health came back into fashion and received more attention from the general public.

Today, many people want to get back to basics.

There is a rejection by many that science cures all.

People are now seeing and accepting what our ancestor’s cultures saw:

That mind body and soul are one and there must be a focus on the whole.

It makes sense

How often have you heard of someone having the sheer will to live when they should have died?

The reason lies in the fact that they used the whole to survive.

If you want to fight off illness, be healthier and have a better mental well being think of your body as being a whole which needs to be fit and healthy.

The Chinese for example, have known this for thousands of years and now finally, this view is becoming more accepted by millions of people worldwide.

THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!!!! God wants you to accept him, and he is waiting with open arms. If you open your minds and turn to him, you will realize the eternal salvation that he is offering you. He can save you from the fires of Hell, and pluck you from Satan’s evil grasp! All you have to do is tell him in all honesty that you love and accept him.

What do you have to lose? If there is no God then we will all perish. But if there is, the non-believers will burn for an eternity and the believers will be rewarded with eternal life! Please reconsider before it’s too late! I only say this because of the way that God has worked in my life, and I want to save as many people as I can! I don’t want any blood on my hands, and you deserve a chance at heaven!!!!
Don’t be cowardly! accept the possibility that there is something out there bigger than you!!!

Motivational Mind Body Soul Spirit Information That Will Challenge the Way you View Life!

David Gau-Ghan asked:

Regardless of personal viewpoint about spirituality, many have wondered what would have happened if Saddam Hussein hadn’t been stopped when he first invaded Kuwait back in the early nineties?

Well, this motivational story explores that scenario to its surprising conclusion and then reinvents the scene time and again in a sequence similar to ‘Groundhog Day’ but in a mind, body, spirit theme. The result is a story that has led many readers to question their concept of so-called reality!

I initially believed I was writing a fictional story about angel ET benefactors influencing our world. But when I completed the first book, The Blue Star Millennium, many readers were convinced that the depicted world events had actually happened, even though recorded history shows a different outcome. That’s when the concept of an alternative reality suddenly gelled into the possibility that world events could change depending on the will of the masses.

As far as I was concerned, I was simply writing an inspirational story about angel extraterrestrial intervention, but I didn’t know where the story was going until it unfolded before me … and I have to admit, I was surprised at some of the content.

The story largely centered on the Gulf War and the changing of events under the influence of a benevolent, angelic race of Beings in the form of extraterrestrial benefactors. The central character in these books is an angel who integrates with human society under the watchful influence of his mentor, the White Star.

Many who have read these esoteric books on http://www.1-inspirational-quote-book.com have queried whether the White Star is real … and if so, did he help change world events in keeping with the will of the masses - the ones currently inhabiting our world … You and me? From that angle, did he also influence my writing in a more spiritual slant?

To be honest, I don’t know!

If he did, I am grateful that he shared this mind, body, spirit knowledge, but a little confused why he would choose me. I’m just an ordinary guy who grew up on the rougher side of town with few privileges, and new age spirituality was not part of my upbringing. I’ve had my share of knocks that life tends to deal out to all those who walk this earth. However, I’ve also had my share of unusual (for want of a better term) experiences … but I’m getting off the track here.

If we take this concept of ET extraterrestrial angels to its logical conclusion, are we not all such Beings? After-all, we are simply visiting this planet for a short while to experience our individual lessons and then we depart – so how can we say that we are of this planet? We simply inhabit a body here temporarily so that we can function in this world.

So, whether these metaphysics philosophy books are influenced by extraterrestrial angels, or resulted from my own tapping into the higher consciousness that is the source of us all … what is the difference? The result is equally fascinating and the concepts that these self improvement stories present will challenge your view of life as you know it.

The Power of the Mind Body Connection

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008
Mind and Body
Andrew Cocks asked:

What is the mind? Obviously it’s got to do with thought, so it’s kind of related to the brain. And the brain’s pretty important, the boss of your body, sending signals to breathe, pump the heart, move the muscles, and function.

Here’s how the mind body connection works:

The Conscious Mind

This is the part that thinks. Your conscious mind makes decisions, reasons, holds preferences, makes plans, sets goals, and chooses what to think about all day. This is the part of your mind that enjoys free will. You also process what you experience in your conscious mind. You use it to imagine and create. You make decisions about what you will and won’t do, will and won’t believe, will and won’t concentrate on. You focus on a project or goal. You reason, weigh options, and find solutions. You choose the thoughts you create, or settle for thoughts someone else tries to give you. You’ve got the power to accept or reject any idea that comes to your mind. Nobody and nothing can force you to think about something you don’t want to think about. Whichever way you go, you imprint your conscious thoughts onto your subconscious mind. It’s as if your conscious mind is the king. The king makes his wishes known, and everyone else jumps into action to comply.

The Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious is fascinating, wild, vast, and mysterious. High achievers have worked to gain a solid understanding of how the subconscious mind works. They understand the power of the subconscious mind, how it affects their results in a very powerful way.

The subconscious mind isn’t confined to your brain, it lives and works in every cell of your body. This is the part of your mind that swings into action at night when you dream, no rules, no logic, no limits, no impossibilities. When you awaken, your subconscious mind snaps to attention, ready to ask “how high” when your conscious mind tells it to jump. It is completely without reason, without the power to differentiate truth from lies; it accepts every thought without question.

Your conscious mind impresses thought after thought on your subconscious mind, which in turn demonstrates these thoughts through your feelings and actions. It expresses your conscious thoughts through feelings and actions. Thoughts that are frequent and repeated burn themselves deeply into the subconscious mind, becoming a fixture in your personality. These fixed ideas take on lives of their own, becoming habits and paradigms. Living these ideas becomes effortless because of the repetition. Changing these ideas requires purposeful effort.

The subconscious mind is the faithful servant to the king, the conscious mind. It exercises every resource to obey when the conscious mind makes a statement or request. It doesn’t discriminate between what seems possible, likely, healthy, good, or bad. A huge part of your subconscious mind’s job is to “make it so.” It commands your body and your senses to do its bidding. You think, “I’d like to find a great home-based business opportunity.” Your subconscious says, “Right on it!” and commissions your to look for home-based business opportunities. Similarly, if you think, “I’m never going to fall asleep. I’m going to be exhausted tomorrow,” your subconscious mind still says, “Right on it!” and marshals every thought, anxiety, and obscure song lyric you’ve ever heard in order to keep you up all night and leave you feeling exhausted the next day.

The subconscious mind is a tireless and efficient worker. It does whatever it is told, without question. It accepts every thought your conscious mind plants there and does everything possible to obey completely and immediately.

The Body

Successful people pay close attention to their bodies, too. They recognize that the body is just the outward manifestation of the inside elements, conscious and subconscious mind. Our bodies, full of vibration, perform and look the way they do because of the internal workings that impact it. In learning to interpret our bodies’ signals, we become more attuned to our feelings and others’ as well as other non-verbal communications between people.

Your body houses your conscious and sub-conscious mind. It is the tool your mind uses to enact your thoughts. Your body brings about the actions and results your mind directs. Your body is like the fruit on a tree. It shows what you think about; it does what you command it to do; it obeys your subconscious mind in its commission to fulfill the orders your conscious mind gives. Rather like a field that’s ready to harvest, your body is a visual demonstration of the thoughts you’ve planted and tended. Your body doesn’t think at all, it simply serves as a canvas for your mind, it shows on the outside whatever is going on on the inside. It is a result, not a cause.

When you’re going about making changes in your life, it would be foolish to start on the outside and work your way inward. The quality of the inside determines the appearance and performance of the outside. So, it only makes sense to focus on the mind body connection. Focus on your thoughts first, and watch what happens through your body

Spiritual Books, New Age Parapsychology, Metaphysical And Mind Body Spirit Books

Saturday, September 6th, 2008
Mind and Body
David Gau-Ghan asked:

Many people believe that new age books are different from spiritual books, even though there are so many books available that are described as new age spiritual books. If we look at the terms new age and spiritual, we find similarities, where spiritual refers to soul or spirit and new age has been described as ‘of or relating to spiritual and consciousness raising movements’. New age books encompass health, medicine, philosophy, religion and the occult. And yet, the term new age was only coined in recent decades, mainly from the 1970’s. So that begs the question - is there such a thing as a New Age?

Many so-called new age books (and spiritual books) that have been written over these past few decades are emphatic that we are indeed in a new age spiritual era that is NEW in every aspect to what has come before. However, researching older spiritual books and philosophy books shows that humankind has passed through eras of high enlightenment before - inspirational times of metaphysical and spiritual awareness that equals or surpasses our current times. So is this perhaps not a new age as such, but simply a remembering of metaphysical, esoteric, inspirational parapsychology and spiritual powers that all of us possess but have temporarily forgotten. If this be the case, then perhaps a more apt term would be Mind Body Spirit.

Which brings us to another so-called new age term … parapsychology. New age parapsychology is the study of paranormal phenomena and the term parapsychology comes from the Greek para ‘beside, beyond’ and psychology, derived from the Greek psyche ’soul, mind’. So, here we are back to the spiritual again or, as mentioned above, Mind Body Spirit. And yet, some people still insist that spiritual books, new age books and new age parapsychology are totally separate themes. Perhaps that’s why more and more people are coining the phrase Mind Body Spirit in an attempt to mold these various terms into a more unified category.

If we look more closely at the core messages in the various spiritual books, new age books, metaphysical, esoteric, parapsychology, philosophy and even self improvement books, we often find similarities that are sometimes veiled in different terms that could all be better described as Mind Body Spirit. Yes, even philosophy books, which are essentially the belief or system of beliefs accepted as an authoritative account by a group or philosophy school, have similarities to each other and also to the more recent spiritual new age parapsychology and metaphysical esoteric books. The various philosophy books available today, which are scriptures handed down over many centuries that are the core beliefs of the world’s many religions, also have strong similarities in the original message, although the interpretation of these books over the ages has led to contrasting viewpoints.

Considering the strife that such opposing views of philosophy books over the ages has caused, perhaps this new age of parapsychology, with its metaphysical, esoteric and spiritual messages and books will help break down these old belief systems that have divided humanity for so long, particularly when unified under the more acceptable catch-phrase of Mind Body Spirit. The proliferation of self improvement books alone has brought a spiritual awareness to thousands, if not millions, who seek to grow through better knowing themselves. Old philosophy books are being rewritten in more spiritual new age terminology and marketed under various terms, not only new age and spiritual, but also metaphysical books, esoteric books, new age parapsychology, inspirational books, self improvement and even philosophy books. An increasing number of these books are being grouped, on websites and also in physical bookstores, under the Mind Body Spirit label.

The overriding influence of these books is inspirational, encouraging readers to delve deeper into themselves to discover their true spiritual nature and it is encouraging to see so many spiritual new age parapsychology (Mind Body Spirit) books coming out in increasing numbers each year.

Two such books are listed on www.1-inspirational-quote-book.com/ although many readers place them into various categories. They are a mixture of metaphysical, spiritual, esoteric and self improvement books, even though they are based in a sci-fi theme. Above all, they are inspirational, told from the viewpoint of an extra-terrestrial race of Beings who are concerned about the direction we are taking. Regardless of the various viewpoints, they will easily fall into the more generalized Mind Body Spirit category and, overall, the feedback from readers has been fantastic, many of them describing the books as ‘inspirational and thought provoking’. As one reader wrote ”The story slowly engulfed me, drew me in until I was on my own journey. It opened my mind, enticing me to read more. I ask, is this just a novel or a key to our future…?’

Jerome
