I do not believe in God. Is this going to be a problem for my spiritual health?

I attend a Catholic Girls school. I was baptized a christian. But not Catholic. I tend to be rude towards the subject of religion. and a lot of my classmates get offended. I don’t see why it is such a sensitive topic? Why is it that religion is so untouchable, it seems I cant have a debate about it without being “insensitive” or “disrespectful”
